One thing changes.

Divergence begins at a real moment in history, documented and sourced, and changes a single decision: an order not given, a signature not put to paper, a battle refused. Then it unrolls. Not an anecdote, not a scene: the whole world that follows, decade by decade, down to this Monday morning. One divergence a week.

Everything before the hinge is verified and cited. Everything after it is built, never wished for: every major swing must name the hinge it turns on and pay its price. Some worlds come out worse, a few better, most of them simply unrecognisable.
